Yeshua is the goal of the Torah for righteousness to those who believe (Rom. 10:4). When Yeshua, the Word of God was made flesh the standard of righteousness was not being lived by the masses and for this cause Yeshua set the record straight on how to live righteously before Yahweh (Matt. 5:17-19). Many have said that the Law was given to prove we couldn’t keep it and to point us to Yeshua. Is that true? In Romans 10:4-8 Paul quotes Deuteronomy 30:11-14. To show us that the Word of God, is Yeshua. Paul does this by inserting Yeshua’s title, “Christ” in place of the “commandments” and “the word” letting us know that when God gave His Commandments, His Word to Moses that He literally gave Moses the Spiritual blue print of “Jesus/Yeshua”! The people were then to do them and live them in order to light their world (Rom. 10:5; Deut. 30:14). We are told to imitate Christ with our lives. How do we know if we are imitating Christ or not? We will keep His commandments and His Word (Eph. 5:1,2; Rev. 12:17; 14:12)! Interestingly enough, neither the commandments given to Moses nor imitating the life of Messiah are too difficult. Maybe that’s why Yeshua said, “that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matt. 4:4)…if we want to live.
